Note: For future reference, below is the announcement for the 2012 Conference Graduate Student Travel Grants competition. The next competition, to attend PRSA’s biennial research conference in October 2014, will be announced in early 2014.

TRAVEL GRANTS FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS

The Puerto Rican Studies Association awarded five travel grants of $500 to selected graduate students to attend its 10th Biennial Conference, which was held on the campus of the University at Albany, State University of New York between October 24 – 28, 2012.

APPLICATION PROCESS (expired)

Only graduate students who are members in good standing of PRSA and who are scheduled to present a paper at the October conference are eligible.

Please submit the following:

  • a 500-word abstract of your paper,
  • a graduate school transcript,
  • and a cover letter that includes your name, contact information, discipline, and the title of your paper.

The deadline for submitting the application was July 15, 2012.

PRSA reimbursed students selected up to $500 for the combined costs of travel, lodging, per diem, and registration. Students will be required to submit receipts, as well as a copy of the paper they present.
