Website Access
PRSA Website Access Policies
One of the principal aims of the Puerto Rican Studies Association’s website is to provide to the widest audience possible information about the scholarly field of Puerto Rican Studies and PRSA’s ongoing work on behalf of research and education related to Puerto Ricans. We are particularly interested in reaching out to audiences beyond our principal constituencies among academics who work, at least partially, on Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans in the United States.
For this reason, almost all of the present content available in this website does not require visitors to become dues-paid PRSA members to access content. For example, in the case of “Noticiero” blog posts, you are only required to provide your name and email address for posting comments. We request, however, that you submit the “Contact Information Form” available in the “Membership” section of this website. This allows PRSA to develop a more comprehensive record of website visitors who are interested in the study of Puerto Ricans.
Access to Restricted Content
Beginning in mid-October, 2011, PRSA has implemented a new system that allows us to create content on this website that is available only to dues-paid members of the association. This content-restriction system will allow PRSA to offer in the future new services available only to dues-paid PRSA members.
If you are a dues-paid PRSA member, you can log into our website using the log in form available near the top of the right side bar that appears on almost every page. Once you log in, the log in form will be replaced by a notification that you are logged in.
Becoming a PRSA Member
If you not currently a member but are interested in joining PRSA, we recommend that you start the process by reading the page titled “Becoming a PRSA Member,” which is available in the “Membership” section of this website. PRSA will publish in late February or early March 2013 the new membership dues scale for calendar year 2013. We will send an announcement of its publication to all current (2011–2012) dues-paid members and will also publish an announcement article on our blog, Facebook Page and Twitter feed.
Future PRSA Website Development
We have additional plans for developing new services on our new website. Several options are already under consideration, preliminary design and experimentation.
We welcome your suggestions as to what types of online services PRSA might provide its membership through our more “modernized” website, in particular those related to services which would be attractive and useful but are not normally offered by other similar academic organizations.
Please send us any questions or suggestions using the electronic form available on the “Contact Us” page on this website. Using the “Contact Us” form facilitates filing and tracking your messages and our responses to them.
